How Tile Requests Are Calculated
A tile request represents a single 256×256 map tile for a single geospatial layer.
Example
An 800×600 interactive map requires 4 tile columns × 3 tile rows = 12 tile requests for a single layer.
If two layers are displayed simultaneously (e.g., Wildfire Activity and Hospitals) → 24 tile requests for the same map view.
Additional map movement, panning, and zooming may generate additional tile requests.
Browser Caching
To improve performance and reduce usage, map tiles are cached within the browser. Cache duration varies by layer type and update frequency.
