Add an ArcGIS map service as an Asset Provider

Steps at a glance

   Open SmartAlert Preferences

   Click the SmartAlert icon in the left toolbar, then select the Assets row.

   Create an Asset Provider

   On the PROVIDERS tab, click CREATE ASSET PROVIDER. If you already have providers, click the pencil icon, then the + sign. Either way you reach the same Add Provider screen.

   Choose the source

   In Add Provider, click Source ›.

   Add your map service

   In Select Provider Source, click the pencil icon, then the + sign.

   Paste the URL and import

   In Import Layer, paste the map service URL, then click IMPORT.

   Select the new source

   Your service now appears in the list. Select it and click ‹ Apply.

   Give the provider a name

   Enter a Name. It's required: without one, the Asset Provider won't save.

   Pick the display name field

   Click Specify asset name field › and choose the field that holds each location's friendly name, then click ‹ Apply.

   Save and confirm

   Click ‹ Apply at the top to save, then Apply your way back out. The PROVIDERS list now includes your new Asset Provider.

    See your assets on the map

    Open Layers and, under User Layers, turn on your map service. Your locations appear on the map.

    See your assets in SmartAlert

    Back in SmartAlert Preferences, the Assets row shows how many of your locations are in the current map view.

    Browse the list

    Open Assets and choose the LIST icon. As you zoom in, the list updates to show only the assets in view.

    See each location's details

    Click any location to see all the fields that came with the map service.
